2023 Golf Tournament A Success!
On Monday, August 21, 2023, the Lakehead Public Schools Foundation held the 1st Annual Bruce Nugent Memorial Golf Tournament.
The Foundation is grateful for the extraordinary day of golf, comradery, and reminiscence and we were honoured to be in the company of Bruce’s family members, friends, and colleagues who attended to support an important cause – the Lakehead Public Schools Foundation. All proceeds from the golf tournament will go to the Student Assistance Fund, scholarships, and the Grade 8 Awards of Excellence.
The event was held at Whitewater Golf Club and featured nine holes of golf, a complimentary lunch and dinner, as well as a silent auction, penny auction, and prize giveaways. The day was coordinated by the tournament director and chair of the Foundation’s golf planning committee, Dave Pineau, and the evening portion was led by Jordan Lester, Chair of the Lakehead Public Schools Foundation. During evening speeches, Director of Education Sherri-Lynne Pharand delivered welcoming remarks and Aidan Nugent, son of Bruce Nugent and longstanding tournament volunteer, commemorated Bruce’s generosity and perpetual helpfulness for the students of Lakehead Public Schools.
